Dr Olugbenga O. Bejide ; Vice President, National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN)

Dr Olugbenga O. Bejide is a Nigerian occupational health and safety consultant who has spent over 25 years in the manufacturing industry — the first half at Oluwa Glass Company Plc, Igbokoda, Nigeria, and the second half at the Nigerian Breweries PLC (Heineken NV), Ibadan, Nigeria. He is currently Chief Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Jabulani Consults Limited, a firm of seasoned occupational health and safety consultant, based in Nigeria, with branch offices in Ghana and South Africa.

He attended UNA Primary School, Kano; Government College, Ibadan; University of Lagos, Lagos; University of Ibadan, Ibadan; the Federal University of Technology, Akure; and the University of Edinburgh earning additional master’s degrees in Business Administration and Public Health. He has been, for over 18 years, an active member of the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN) and Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON). He’s Fellow of the Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) and the Nigerian Institute of Management(NIM).

He has actively participated in several editions of the West African Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Conference (WASHEQ) both in Nigeria and in Ghana, serving in various capacities and providing technical, administrative and organizing support. He has also presented technical papers at many local, regional and international conferences and workshops. He is currently a Vice-President of the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN), after serving as the Oyo branch chairman of the Council for eight years.

Cletus Akhigbe; President, NISCN

Mr Cletus Akhigbe is the national president of the National Industrial Safety Council of Nigeria (NISCN)—Nigeria’s oldest safety body. He is a passionate HSE and quality professional and a public speaker, who has mentored hundreds of QHSE professionals.

He began his career as a safety professional at World Oil Tools Nigeria Limited, as the pioneer QHSE manager, before moving to Oil Quest International Limited to manage the QHSE department. Today he is the Principal Consultant and CEO at Clevepronet Limited and a director at Mac Offshore Solutions Limited.

He has expanded his experience in QHSE management system, project safety management, IOC and regulatory compliance auditing, and QHSE program development, in different sectors: oil and gas, marine, manufacturing, etc.

A graduate of mechanical engineering, Mr Akhigbe fell in love with the occupational safety and health discipline after graduation, and has never looked back. An IRCA-certified lead auditor, he’s a consultant to many companies.

Mr. Godson Etokakpan; Principal Consultant and CEO, Primergreen Limited

Mr. Godson Etokakpan is the principal consultant and CEO of Primergreen Limited. He is an HSE professional with 25 years of work experience in dredging and civil and pipeline construction in the oil and gas sector. Godson posseses excellent working knowledge of management systems, including OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001 2015, ISO 14001 and 31000. He also knows his way around risk management tools.

A DQS-certified auditor on ISO 45001 2018, 18001 2007, and 9001 2015, he’s a skilled third-party auditor for DQS Nigeria Limited. He is the immediate past Corporate HSE Manager, Nestoil Group.

Godson is a versatile writer on the HSE profession with 12 articles published on LinkedIn. He has successfully planned and delivered QHSE trainings for 12 years.

Dr Ogbonna, Iniobong; Group Head, QHSE — NOTORE, Chemical Industries, Plc

Dr Ogbonna, Iniobong is the Group Head, QHSE—NOTORE, Chemical Industries, Plc.Onne, Rivers. She is experienced in various fields including: HSE Management (emphasis- Air, Water and Air compliance with regulatory guidelines and waste management, Occupational Health and safety management, Statutory Compliance), Quality Control Checks (Raw material and finished product analysis using both classical and instrumental methods), Quality Assurance. Ensuring continual implementation of QMS and Education (School Management, Instructor in Environmental Sciences, Physical Science and Counselling).

She is a lecturer in the Institute of Petroleum Studies (IPS), Center for Gas Refining and Petrochemicals (CGRP), University of Port Harcourt.

She was the Lead Chemist (Environmental) at Rusia Aluminum (RUSAL)/Aluminum Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) Ikot-Abasi, Akwa Ibom State. She was a Lecturer at Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akadien, Akwa Ibom State.

She holds Ph.D. Physical Chemistry and Post Graduate Diploma in Education both from the University of Calabar. She has Masters in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Uyo and B.SC Chemistry from the University of Calabar.

She won Prof. Ekong’s Prize: For The Best All-Round Graduating Chemistry Student,1989, University of Calabar, Calabar.

Engr. Thompson John Manam

Engr. Thompson John Manam attended the renowned Lutheran High School, Obot Idim in Ibesikpo/Asutan LGA in Akwa Ibom State, proceeded to the Polytechnic, Calabar where he obtained a National Diploma (ND) in Electrical Engineering and moved to the College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos State, where he graduated with a Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering in 1990.

He then obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from the University of Calabar, Cross River State in 1998 and 2002 respectively. Engr. Manam further proceeded to the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering in 2004.

He has attended several courses, workshops and seminars both locally and internationally. He is a Safety Leadership subject matter expert (SME), Project Manager, Engineering Systems Inspector & Evaluator, Functional Safety, Obsolescence Manager, Incident and Accident Investigator, Trainer and Competency Assessor.

He is a COREN Registered Engineer with over 30 years in the Oil and Gas industry at both professional and managerial levels, He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (FNIEEE), Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers, FNISafetyE, Fellow of the Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, FISPN and also member Nigerian Institute of Management, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) USA and International Society of Automation (ISA) USA.

An accomplished Electrical Engineer and Process Controls Systems/Security SME, Engr. Manam is currently the Upstream Nigeria Training and Competency Assurance Standard Manager, for ExxonMobil Deep Water Operations – Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPNU) & Esso Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (EEPNL).

He has been involved in the design and supervision of several notable projects for Upstream Nigeria Operations. He was Project Implementation Manager for ExxonMobil Global Industrial Controls System Requirement (ICSR) for Process Controls Systems (PCS) Operability, Maintenance, Security and Sustainment. He also stewarded the Alarm Management Projects for Nigeria Operations as a core member of the ExxonMobil Global Maintenance and Reliability Network. He is a leading member of the ExxonMobil Global Competency Assurance & Training Network.

Engr. Manam has held different offices in some professional Organisation such as Chairman Nigerian Society of Engineers, Eket Branch (2009 – 2014). Member, inaugural Board of NSE Engineering Practice and Resource Centre (EPRC). He is presently, the Chairman of The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (NIEEE), Eket Chapter. Dr Evelyn E. Gwunawaji ; Founder, GEM Foundation

Dr Evelyn E. Gwunawaji is a medical practitioner working in Accident and Emergency Department, UCTH. Having had several years of work experience in this aspect of medicine, she has been trained in several fields and has acquired competent skills.
